ARCHERY CENTER and 3D RANGE RULES….

Violation of the rules is grounds for immediate removal from the range and a possible banning from future range use.

Every single person on the grounds must sign in and sign our waiver. No exceptions.

Do not leave the course trails and be alert, never run or go backwards on the trails.

There is poison oak on this property. Although rarely seen, rattlesnakes, courgars and bears are know to live in this part of the state. For your safety and added enjoyment, shooting with a partner, using ”buddy system“ is strongly recommended.

Caution: When pulling your arrows from the target, do not stand directly behind the arrow as you pull it. If it breaks free suddenly you will discover that even an arrow knock is sharp enough to cut. Not following this advice is the cause of the most common accident in archery.

No smoking anywhere on the grounds. No pets allowed anywhere on the property, even in your vehicle.

No one under the age of sixteen (16) years old is allowed on the range without direct adult supervision.

Aboslutely no broadhead tips. Field point tips only. Only one shot per target.

Crossbows, BB/Pellet/Paint Guns or Air Rifles and Firearms are Prohibited.

No alcoholic beverages on the grounds and please do not liter.

No group shall unreasonably hold up another group by prolonged hunting for lost arrows. Slow groups let faster moving groups play through.

Always have one member of your party standing in front of the target, looking towards the shooting lane, while you are looking for lost arrows, as a warning to others, following the course, if you are alone, leave your bow in front of the target so others know you are there.

No archer should advance from his or her shooting position until all have shot.

Never release an arrow when you cannot see where it will land.

Never flight shoot an arrow into the woods.

Never shoot straight up.

Never shoot at the ground or a tree, stump or rock. Only shoot in marked lanes at targets.

Never shoot a broken arrow. Inspect each arrow carefully as you retrieve it.

Remember at all times that a bow and arrow is a deadly weapon, protect your sport by being careful and sure when you shoot.

Never attempt to demonstrate your skill by using a person as a target or by permitting another to hold the object you are shooting.

Never brace another’s bow without his/her permission, and never draw it under any circumstances.

No shooting at live targets, hunting or fishing on range property.

RULES ON THE SHOOTING TOWERS...

The shooting tower at the archery range requires that a person be over twelve years old, or have parent supervision. No more than two people at a time will be allowed on the tower. The combined weight of the two people shall not exceed 350 pounds.

RULES ON THE PRACTICE RANGE….

Never go behind practice range backstop by yourself without notifying others, if alone, leave your bow so others will know that you are there.

No cross lane shooting.

Be courteous with multiple shooters present by limiting each shooting session to no more than twelve (12) arrows at the start of each session.

3D RANGE SCORING

There are 4 scoring areas marked on the target. A hit anywhere on the animal out side of the marked rings is 5 points. The largest area or ring is 8 points, the next smallest is ring 10 and finally, the inside ring is 12 points. Arrows that are touching a line score the higher value of the two regions. Hits outside of all rings score 5 points, with the exception that hits on the horns or hooves score zero. Misses also score zero. Here are some typical scoring rings from a McKenzie 3D target. And you’re right, the heart on a deer is lower in the body than the 10-ring indicates. It’s very important to remember that 3D is target shooting, not hunting. Aim accordingly, and be particularly wary on angled shots.

ASA SCORING

There are 4 scoring rings marked on the target. A hit with in the largest ring 10 points. There are 2 smaller 12 point rings inside of the 10 ring. The lower 12 is what we call the Saturday 12 or first round 12 located in the bottom of the 10 ring .It is shot during the first round only when you have to judge the distance to the target  The second Sunday 12 is located high in the 10 ring it is shot only on the second or known range round .
